Midnight In Paris (Woody Allen, 2011).
Ideation:
1. The clock becomes the main part of the story. As it strikes midnight, the protagonist goes back to the 1920s. Hence that is the backdrop in this poster. On which lays the other layers.
2. It's 12'o clock on the clock. Hence a time-warp kind of thingy (the spiral shape) comes to be seen. That basically describes the time-travel that the protagonist undergoes. It is the medium through which he is taken into the past.
3. The color code of the spiral shape is similar to that of Picasso's painting, The Bather. I used it's color code because I found a certain link of the life of Picasso, the segment that is shown in the film, to be similar to that of the protagonist. They are even drawn towards the same woman. Both are struggling artists. both come to the same person to get their artwork reviewed.
4. The book is basically a representation of the draft of the story that the protagonist was carrying. I wrote the name of the film on that book because to broadly look at it, the theme of the film and that of the story the protagonist wrote are similar.
5. The spiral is shown to extend infinitely. The color coded spiral. That is because we are shown, in the film, that the midnight teleportation is kinda nested. That is, the teleportation keeps on happening at midnight. Say you're teleported to the 1920s at midnight, as is the protagonist, and then, there again at midnight you can be teleported to a further past time period. As happens to the protagonist and Adriana. However Adriana decides to go further into the past, and our protagonist decides to return to the future.
6. The BG is white because the transportation makes our protagonist happy and content, happens at night and yet overpowers the night-time darkness. Figuratively.
7. The noise that is applied is because of two reasons: a. Aesthetic, b. The BG is white. However the story deals mostly with midnight. Hence the grain, because cameras form grains at night.
8. If one observes closely, there are two filters that have been applied on the artwork. A blue filter and a warm orange filter. The blue filter re[presents present time (2010), and the orange filter represents the magical teleporation into the past (which has a warm color tone in the film). The blue filter is applied to most of the BG. The orange filter is applied on and near the spiral shape, the number 12 on the clock and the book.
This film is a must watch. A beauty by Woody Allen. :)
Nicely portrayed.
